Georgia Production Gains An EDGE

POSTED BY admin  •  January 1, 2004

ATLANTA, Georgia — Not since the early 90’s, when Georgia was the third largest producer of film and video in the nation, has Georgia’s production community come together in an effort to recapture market share and regain its competitive EDGE.

Introducing EDGE

Economic Development through Georgia Entertainment (EDGE) is a newly formed 501(c)(6) not-for-profit corporation whose organizing members are the Georgia Production Partnership (GPP) and the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 479 (IATSE).

The EDGE Mission Statement

EDGE’s goal is to develop aggressive economic incentives for Georgia’s entertainment industry, specifically as they pertain to motion picture production, so that new productions, industry related jobs, and ancillary businesses may be created, engaged, and retained.

Current Legislation

Critical legislation is being drafted through EDGE for consideration during the Georgia 2004 Legislative Session, with consultation from GPP, IATSE, the Georgia Film, Video & Music Office, and State registered lobbyists.
